Having achieved a
milestone in just three weeks of its official launch in India, LINE Corporation, owners and operators of the free calling and messaging app, “LINE”, have exceeded 200 million numbers worldwide who are using the app.
The company also announced that the registered users in India for LINE app have reached the 5 million mark. One of the fastest growing apps in India, LINE was launched in India on July 1st 2013 through a brand marketing campaign, including two very interesting television advertisements highlighting the ‘group voice chat’ and ‘sticker’ features.
The app has been a success in the youth segment with its sticker and voice chat features becoming an instant hit and has been used extensively in all conversations happening through LINE app in India.

LINE was launched on June 23, 2011 as a group communications service available across multiple devices and network carriers. It achieved 150 million users worldwide on April 30, 2013, a mere 23 months after its release and is continuing to expand globally, with young adults taking up a major proportion of its user base.
A rapid surge in user numbers was also seen in new regions, such as India and the Philippines in Asia, Spain in Europe and Brazil, Mexico, Columbia, Argentina and Peru in South America. The accelerated growth in these regions has enabled LINE to achieve 200 million users worldwide.
Furthermore, the Android version of LINE has exceeded 100 million downloads from Google Play. LINE aims to continue to improve the usability of its service and add new features, in order to enrich the lives of its users and make the service an integral piece of infrastructure for users all around the world.
