World View Through “Google Glass”

Experts feel that Google is set to launch its pet project, Google Glass by the end of 2013 and yes it will further strengthen Google’s supremacy in the tech world.

As we move ahead on the technology turf, project Google Glass represents the next big step in wearable computing. The seeds of this technology were sown way back in early 2010. But as the days went by, it was clear that Google’s dream of wearable computing technology was soon going to be the reality. Google is already quite a bit involved in everybody’s daily technology related chores and by this new device, it is set to go deep down ahead.

But what exactly is Google Glass? Why is it attracting all this attention and what are the implications of having a Google-eye view of things we feel see and experience?

What and why of Google Glass?

As is it being put technology experts, Google Glass is an attempt towards wearable computing to free data from desktop computers and portable devices like phones and tablets, and place it right in front of your eyes anytime of the day or night.

Taking wearable computing to the next level, Google Glass comprise of a camera, display, touchpad, battery and microphone built into spectacle frames so that a user can land a display right in the field of vision, film, take pictures, search and translate on the go. This is the ultimate mobility in everybody’s hands.

Google Glass uses display technology instead to put data in front of your vision courtesy of a prism screen. This is designed to be easily seen without obstructing your view. And yes, according to Google this display is the equivalent of a 25-inch high definition screen from about eight feet in distance.

The embedded camera inside Google Glass does not need a viewfinder because it is capable of recording a user’s first-person perspective, allowing you to take snaps or footage of what you are actually seeing.

When it comes to Controlling this data, this is being done with a microphone and touchpad on one arm of the frame, which will help a user to select what he or she wants to do with a brief gesture or by talking to the device, and Google Glass will interpret the commands.

Users can also use Google hangout software to video conference with friends and show them what they are looking at. Users will also be able to use Google Maps to get directions while on the move.
