“Payment recovery is critical”

Jodhpur Computer Dealers association was formed with a mission to do ethical business and to make profits in the interest of the society by ensuring fare practices. However, of late there has been issue of no vendor, distributor presence in the city which hampers the growth of the IT dealers in the state. In an exclusive chat with Basant Mehta, Founder President, Jodhpur Computer Dealers Association Bhawna Satsangi finds out the reason behind vendors absence in the city.

Jodhpur market might have been doing fairly well business as the business is dependent on the northern market of India, Delhi and Jaipur. Yet there is a problem of vendors and distributors absence which is taking a toll on the businesses of many retailers. Basant Mehta, Founder President, Jodhpur Computer Dealers Association informs, “Being geographically bigger but least populated, no vendor/distributor is having its branch here. We have to fulfill our every requirement from 250 km away capital town- Jaipur. Jodhpur being far away from vendor/distributor warehouses, every member tries to close the customer’s requirement immediately and keep sufficient stock with him. This stock and sale practice, maximum time, leads to dumping of non demanded stock as there is no price protection or sales return policy of distributors/vendors. Similar problem is being faced in service front and thus TAT of parts/spare movement is more and thus customer satisfaction is difficult here.”

DoA and stock dumping is the main problem of dealers in Jodhpur. Also payment recovery is difficult as more number of players working in the city, leading to paper thin margins. Thus any deviation (DoA, late delivery, excess billing) would easily converted into late payment.

Jodhpur Computer Dealers Association geographically spreads over 30% area of the state and is a forum for resellers of entire Jodhpur division. The association does many activities like personality development, organize technical seminars, product launches, get together for its members. Keeping their members united and solving their problems, the basic aim of the organization is to address different issues of Computer Dealers’ community on a single platform and increase the IT culture in respective towns.

In the span of a few years, JCDA has achieved a remarkable position and got place amongst the top 50 Computer Dealers association of India. Recently JCDA has become the executive member of FRCTA also.
