HP Set to Discontinue SnapFish in India

Owing to opportunities that could not be cashed in well, Snapfish, an online photo sharing and printing service from global IT major Hewlett Packard is being shut down in India. The company is set to discontinue offering services through its India website, Snapfish.in, on 16th September 2013.

In an email communication, HP confirmed this movement and concluded – that this is being done in an effort to optimize its business model.

“In an effort to optimize its existing business model, Snapfish is discontinuing business in India. Resources from this country will be reinvested to support the innovation of core Snapfish product offerings including photo books and cards in core countries,” the email communication said.

It is important to note that HP had made a big splash making SnapFish’s big entry into the Indian retail photo printing market in the year 2007.

Driven by the company photo channel business, the company had then planned to establish a footprint of 3,000 retail photo outlets across the country, and had also launched Snapfish in India to facilitate door-to-door delivery of printed photos.

Additionally, SnapFish also allowed customers to order interesting and engaging photos printed onto various items such as key chains, mugs, and t-shirts.
