Next generation ready wearable sensor technology is helping people to understand their own bodies in a better way and can tell much more today about what happens inside our bodies.

Driving this development further ahead and closer to reality, researchers globally have been working on a series of extra-thin, flexible electronic gear that are both wearable and totally unnoticeable even to the people who wear them — they’re so thin that they are now being referred to as electronic tattoos.

Such electronic tattoos consist of a hypersensitive thermometer, it is just like a highly sensitive thermal infrared camera. Not only can the wearable thermometer do the same job, but it can do it better: because it attaches to the skin, it can measure temperature over a long period of time, during a person’s day-to-day activities, and without its target shifting around and introducing inaccuracies to a camera’s steady sensor.

This is of great value for certain people who can’t properly control their body temperatures, as this wearable technology driven tattoo can allow them to know their skin temperature as far down as to the millikelvin, as this device allows, can let physicians or doctors to inform them exactly what’s going on underneath the bodies, well in advance before something happens. Analytics and predictive medicinal activities can be injected into such devices as well.

The researchers are also working towards making such highly super sensitive devices, truly wireless.

Experts do say that, applying this kind of wearable thermometer to the skin is just the start of a new era of wearable technology adoption.
