Trend Micro has said that the mobile threat landscape has now aligned with that of a PC threat landscape wherein vulnerabilities are being identified one after another.
The company has said that each new emerging bug is more damaging that its predecessor and a lot of them could result in data theft or device infection if exploited.
“Mobile vulnerabilities are even more dangerous than mobile malware. Not only does exploitation expose users to even graver threats; those affected only has two options—live with the vulnerabilities or buy a new device that runs the latest OS, especially if you use an Android device because the platform suffers from fragmentation,” said Dhanya Thakkar, Managing Director, India & SEA, Trend Micro.
The top vulnerabilities identified by the company includes- Android Vulnerability Timeline,
Device Administrator Vulnerability, Master Key Vulnerability, SIM Card and Mactan Vulnerabilities, Custom Permissions Vulnerability, Reboot Loop Vulnerability, Heartbleed Vulnerability and Vulnerability due to Upgrade
Purchasing security apps to help keep your devices safe from threats is a very big help as well. They won’t cost as much as a new device but can help keep your device bug and malware free, said Trend Micro.
