Expanding the business has become the need of an hour for the business owners in southern India. To earn profits in business it is essential for them to look into other verticals to grow. To help dealers come out of this slowdown, the Kerala IT association is educating the dealers about the new growth opportunities. Bhawna Satsangi talks to market dealers in southern India to know the changes they are making in their business for growth.
Working on to increase the sales and business from last year, Kerala Channel Partners can now see some respite and is seeing the positive growth in IT industry. While fighting with the slowdown in the market the association has helped the dealers to come out of the grieve situation through their constant efforts and plans.
The association educated the dealers on the new market opportunities and asked them to tap those opportunities. James Joseph, State President, Kerala IT Association, shares, “Our focus is the welfare of the IT dealers. We have started an insurance service for dealers where we have placed a charity box in the dealers’ office. The money that is collected is used in the welfare of the dealers. Through our endeavour we are helping them to understand business opportunities by asking them to expand their business in mobility. Through our endeavour we have tried to solve almost 90% of the issues like MRP, service issue, Tax, online purchase etc. in the market.”
While the IT hardware business is slow in south Bangalore, the dealers are expanding their business in other verticals to make profits. Ashok Lalnani, Director, A.B. Infotech from Bangalore has expanded his business to smartphone. He says, “Hardware business is going very slow here so we have changed the business model and looking forward to selling consumer products. There is ample opportunity in smartphone business and we are seeing the potential in this business. We are dealing in Samsung, Nokia, Micromax etc. and are fetching good business now.”
Lalnani sees huge growth in the business and informs that they generate almost 30% of revenue alone from smartphone business. Saravanan.V, Director, Frontech Systems from Tiruvannamalai who deals in computer sales and services asserts, “Last three months were not good for the business but now we can see some growth in the business. I hope that with the formation of the new government, we will see new opportunities for business. We deal in Lenovo, HP, Acer products and are seeing demand from the education sector.”
M. Shanmuga Sundaram, Secretary, Association for Computer Traders Trichy (ACTT) informs, “The market is seeing opportunities in computer services and printers. There is demand from the education sector and the dealers are doing good in that business. Schools, government institutions, colleges, corporate are few verticals from where there is demand coming for computer sales and services.”
Change is the only constant factor and it is need of the hour to change your business dynamics so to bring profits to the business. Keeping this approach in mind T Kumar, President, Computer Dealers Association of Tirunelveli believes, “One has to identify the DNA of the business and work accordingly. And in our region hardware business is going strong over the period of time. There are growth opportunities in SMB and SOHO segments with our business.”
