Samsung Unveils Galaxy Core 2 Smartphone

Witnessing the recent launches of increasing number of budget phones from brands like Asus, Xiaomi etc market leader Samsung has launched the Galaxy Core 2 smartphone in India. The new Galaxy Core 2, which was announced globally earlier this month, has been priced at Rs 11,900. Galaxy Core 2 is only available for purchase via Samsung’s India e-store at present.

Samsung Galaxy Core II is a dual-sim smartphone with a 4.5-inch (480x800p) display. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 768MB of RAM. It has 4GB internal storage and supports microSD cards of up to 64GB.

Galaxy Core 2 sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera. Connectivity options in the device include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. The smartphone is powered by a 2,000mAh battery and is available in two colours — black and white.

Asim Warsi, vice president — marketing, mobile & IT at Samsung India, said, “The Galaxy Core 2 is the perfect device for users who want an optimal mix of style, portability and power. We are confident that the Core 2 will help us augment our existing market share in the Rs 10,000-15,000 price range.”

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and 10.5 tablets, unveiled in India earlier this month, have also hit the market along with this smartphone. Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has been priced at Rs 37,800, whereas Galaxy Tab S 10.5 costs Rs 44,800.
