NEC India has introduced NEC’s NeoFace® Reveal solution in India as a part of its public safety offerings.
NeoFace® Reveal is a software solution for forensic investigation and captures facial images of suspects from photographs and crime scenes, which are enhanced and encoded for matching against a mugshot repository. Other solutions that were showcased at the event include city surveillance, behavior detection and attendance management solutions.
NEC’s facial recognition technology relies on a modified Generalised Learning Vector Quantization (GLVQ) algorithm which enables high speed and high accuracy facial detection and facial features extraction. The technology has been deployed worldwide for security purposes, such as for CCTV surveillance, border control, law enforcement, immigration as well as others.
NEC’s face recognition technology has achieved the highest performance evaluation in the recent Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) 2014 performed by the U.S National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)*. Test results revealed NEC’s search accuracy as well as face recognition algorithms’ speed for image search outperformed competitors significantly. The NIST report provides an industry benchmark for assessing how accurate a face recognition software solution is in one-to-many searches in various circumstances.
