Following the suite of North East Computer Traders Association (NECTA) the protest on price parity, associations in South staged a protest against unethical market practices that has hampered the business of many IT dealers in the state. The Price parity issue has grappled the business of traditional retailers pan India and this has resulted in huge loss of business that they are almost on the verge of shutting the businesses.
To raise their voice, a strong solidarity for the cause was expressed by channel partners in Karnataka and Hyderabad. Members of FITDAK and TCCDA protested on the streets against the unethical pricing in online platforms. The shops in the IT markets were shut down for a day long protest on 24 November 2014. Anand Rao Balluru, President and charter President of AIT Bangalore and FITDAK along with other association members took out a silent march in the city demanding justice for the partners.
“The agitation was impactful. We are waiting for OEMs to come back with their replies. Their actions are not good for our community. We are going to start the agitation again if we do not receive a positive response from the vendors,” says Anand Rao, President, FITDAK.
Not only this, the members of FITDAK association marched holding placards carrying slogans like ‘Buy on OLX & you get outdated models’, Want to Gamble? Try online purchase, Dear OEMs we do not want blame game- we want fair game, East India Company once again entering from West etc.
