COMPASS (Computer Association of Eastern India) will organize eastern region’s largest annual information technology fair – COMPASS 14-15 from February 13 to 16 (2015) at the Netaji Indoor Stadium & Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, Kolkata. Entry to the COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair would be by invitation, tickets and free registration at the official website www.compassfair.in.
The COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair being held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium with Khudiram Anushilan Kendra Kolkata on 16th of February, 2015, with NASSCOM as association partner. CeBIT India is, for the first time, helping COMPASS organize world-class paid seminars on innovative technologies like Internet of Things and Cyber Security. The Tech Fair’s focal theme would be Service, Solutions and Software.
“The COMPASS Mega Tech Fair is one of the most happening events in the eastern region. It provides a solid platform to enterprises of all sizes to showcase their products. It also provides end-users an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest technology and trends in the IT sector. This year there would be 100 stalls and 20 pavilions and participation by leading brands like DELL (main sponsor), HP and AMD (co-sponsors) along with top international brands like LENOVO, CANON, BROTHER, WESTERN DIGITAL, ACER, among others,” said Mr. Sanjay Chhajer, Chairman-Exhibition Committee, COMPASS 14-15 .
Rashi Peripherals, Ricoh, Transcend and Digisol are the associate sponsors for the Tech Fair 2015, while SITI DIGITAL and DQ-WEEK are the digital Cable TV and IT Channel Media partners respectively for the Tech Fair.
Seminars and competitions like inter-college quiz competition, gaming competition, short film competition and various workshops have been organised during the COMPASS Tech Fair. This year, the Indian Statistical Institute and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, would be participating for the first time at the Tech Fair. “We are also looking to establish a strong link between COMPASS and some leading academic institutions of India and also top Chambers Of Commerce. The target is to reach out and engage young students of schools and colleges to actively participate in the various events in the Fair,” said Mr. Prakash Agarwal, Secretary-COMPASS.

Thought Leadership Seminars:
According to Gartner Inc., study, it is estimated that there would be 26 billion devices on the Internet of Things by 2020. These intelligent devices would not only have sensory capabilities (see and hear) but also actuation capabilities that perform various day to day actions like opening locks and turning on lights etc. To share more information on the relevance and opportunities in this new innovative field of IT, thought leadership discussions and seminars will be organised on Internet of Things (IOT) and Cyber Security, with the support of CeBIT India, at The Taj Bengal hotel on February 16th 2015.
The Big Data generated by IOT would require secure analytics support, highlighting cyber security as another interesting new challenge for the IT enterprise. Mr. Ranjan Goenka will co-ordinate these seminars which will see participation from many industry leaders in the domain.
INTER-COLLEGE IT QUIZ
COMPASS will organize an Inter-College IT Quiz in which avid quizzers from 60 plus leading colleges would participate. Quiz Master Goutam Bose would conduct the Quiz that would be test the knowledge levels of the IT industry of the students participating in it.
The three interesting days of quizzing will have live audio and video rounds, promising an action packed atmosphere. The winners shall bag trophies and every participant will be awarded with certificates and prizes. There would also be the audience rounds and exciting prizes up for grabs at the COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair. IT QUIZ is being coordinated by Mr. Maneesh Kasera.
SHORT FILM COMPETITION
The Short Film Competition, for the first time in COMPASS invites 6-minute films and videos from professionals and amateurs on a chosen topic. The theme of the Competition is “Pause for a Cause” and would be coordinated by Mr. Hemant Chabria. Attractive prizes would be given to the winners.
GAMING COMPETITION
This popular action-packed Man vs. Machine competition is expected to attract 2000-plus gamers and techno-hobbyists from across India and would be coordinated by Mr. Umang Lalani. This Competition will be a major attraction at the COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair, for younger crowds to display their gaming skills. The doors would be open for on-spot registrations for all the gaming enthusiasts. Winners will get exciting prizes.
WORKSHOPS
The Tech Fair would hold workshops on Social Marketing, Online Security, Digital Art, Photography and on other topics coordinated by Mr. Shiv Mohta. The idea is to familiarize the visitors with the mechanisms and impart knowledge about the gadgets and IT trends that rule our lives.
