Indus Towers today showcased its efforts towards creating an efficient, cleaner and greener network system for West Bengal, Sikkim, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Achieving a milestone of over 25,000 tenancies across its eight customers (Vodafone, Airtel, Idea, Reliance Jio, Tata Teleservices, MTS, Aircel and Reliance Communication), Indus Towers’ networks are enabling three out of every four calls in the state of West Bengal.
Working on a vision of making West Bengal a Smart City, Indus Towers has collaborated with the Government to aid in the making of 12 Smart Cities in geographies covered in West Bengal region i.e. Kolkata, Rest of Bengal, Sikkim & Andamans. Among the 5 locations chosen by the Govt. as part of Phase-I Smart City implementation, Indus Towers is already at advanced stages of discussions & agreement for New Town, Salt Lake & Haldia, while discussions for Durgapur & Port Blair are in the process of being initiated.

With a vision of ‘Putting India First’, Indus offers its users a near perfect uptime of 99.99% with over 10,500 mobile towers across the Circle (including 99.999% in the city of Kolkata), thus providing continuous and uninterrupted connectivity to close to 10 crore subscribers and industries to work and operate efficiently. Further, Indus has also established towers in Lachung and Lachen – two of the highest locations for telecom circle, as well as in various remote locations from the hills of North Bengal to the islands in the Sundarban delta, thus facilitating improved administrative convenience, comfort among local populace and tourism potential.
Working on its core values of ExCITE, Indus Towers is building and employing skilled workforce by employing over 200 direct and around 7000 indirect employees in the region. The company has converted over 4100 of its sites into green sites and over 200 sites into solar hybrid sites, as part of its ‘Shut DG’ programme. Furthermore, as a part of its ‘Shut AC’ initiative the company has also converted over 40% of its total sites in the circle from indoor to outdoor, resulting in ACs being shutdown in over 4000 sites. These sites make use of advanced energy solutions.
Going forward Indus plans on working very closely with operators in enabling the data revolution and continue to provide best-in-class infrastructure across Bengal.
