Northstar launches a new safety platform for school children in-transit

Northstar, a product that was created to address the  issue of safety of children while traveling to and from school, has now introduced a new version of its platform for parents and schools. The Northstar dashboard for schools will be used by school administrators to keep track of their bus fleet. The mobile app is used by parents across the country to keep track of their children’s location as they commute between school and home.

Northstar was conceptualized by Bobbie H. Kalra and Shyam Ramamurthy in the year 2011, after three years of research and scouting of numerous avenues. The duo identified ‘Child Safety’ as the biggest cause of concern in India. This drove them to create Northstar – an in-transit safety platform that integrates GPS, video surveillance, and RFID technologies to facilitate school bus monitoring, school bus video surveillance and student attendance management amongst others.

Northstar has developed the new platform with an ear to the ground and a vision towards a better user experience. Parents no longer need to depend on unreliable SMS getaways, while schools can have complete control over students’ data. The new version is a revolutionary upgrade to its predecessor. It brings an all new mobile experience for iOS and Android and a ground-up developed dashboard for schools.
