In an exclusive interaction, VinayShetty share insights on technology trends in 2016 and how ASUS is planning to ride this tech wave –

1. What new trends do you see in the Indian gaming market over 2016?

There is a lot of buzz in the gaming market in India for sure and it’s nice to see that both, brands and users are focusing their innovation and new products in this segment. India has a lot of potential to do well and create a mark on this front.  Many brands are getting newer gadgets for different types of users in addition to many gaming events that are being organised by brands for the benefit of the user.

2. How has the cloud helped in the development of personal computing?

Cloud space is something that is looked upon as a ‘to be or not to be’ space for Personal Computing.  With Data theft being absolutely critical to personal information and identity, Cloud is the mainframe where our digital information will reside. In future we will have all types of screens in our lives that are tied to the cloud and can be used to access our digital information. At the heart of future of personal computing, Cloud is still maturing.

3. Does the connected world provide a support advantage?

We live in a connected world in this day and age. Everything, from the phones we use to the doors of our refrigerators, everything is linked or can be linked. We have been adept in synchronising this vision of a connected world which is injected with a strong line up from Power Home PC’s / Server Platforms / Wireless devices that make life easier for a user in any segment

4. Mr Shetty you have a very prolific background. Do you feel this is a requisite for success in the constantly shifting environment of Indian IT industry?

I am a strong believer of ‘Each day comes with a new learning’. I am still a learner, keeping this view in mind I to try to stick to fundamentals and draw a distinction between actions and words. You can’t create a reputation simply based on words but only through actions. You need to understand an individual first.  Understand their strengths and weakness, and to focus on creating a winning mind-set.  Create a Win-Win scenario and respect partnerships.

5. What strategy do you plan for capturing more of the Indian market, in the face of burgeoning  applications market?

My focus has always been fundamental. Fortunately for me, since India has a huge target audience, understanding of demand of the growing user base is very important.  New products not only need functionality and features but design as well as aesthetics.  It’s simply not just selling every product to every user.  It’s key to define the user base and especially in India as the Geographic spread makes it vital in the current scenario that the target audience is classified and targeted.  With the wide range of products in the Asus profile, the task is a mix of easy and demanding. But the reputation of Asus as a World’s leading Brand which has so many brilliant products makes the task less challenging.

6. Do you feel that the Smart Cities initiative will provide an impetus to the new paradigm of mobility led personal computing?

Personal computing is evolving and with the gadgets in the mobility space growing rapidly, there is still a huge potential for the PC to flourish.  The Home PC will now move into a section to be a Storage space.  The Smart city initiative will bridge this disconnect.  This program, in my personal opinion will help bring interconnected cities to evolve and grow better and it will be seamless to operate from any location and reach users at any location in a matter of seconds.

7. What threats do you see coming in as a result of this ubiquitous connectivity?

Everything has its pros and cons.  Technology and connectivity are no exception to this.  We need to be more wary on how information is handled and how it is transferred.  We need to protect the intricate threads of human emotions not to cause havoc for the mass. But having said that I feel we always should look at the brighter side, connectivity will reach out to millions of Indians, and the minds of these billions with billion wonderful ideas will help shadow the dangers and concerns.  It will be instrumental in making a New India.
