FORCEPOINT™ INTEGRATES STONESOFT® NEXT-GENERATION FIREWALL WITH CLOUD SECURITY TECHNOLOGIES

Forcepoint’s NGFW also receives NSS Labs’ rating of “Recommended” in Intrusion Prevention

Global cybersecurity leader Forcepoint™ today announced the successful integration and continued development of its Stonesoft® technology has led to an enhanced Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) offering, Stonesoft NGFW 6.1. Extending firewall protection to the cloud, NSS Labs “Recommended” Stonesoft NGFW 6.1 gives customers enhanced security, scalability and operational efficiency to centrally and securely deploy and manage devices around the world.

Stonesoft NGFW 6.1 now utilizes Forcepoint’s ThreatSeeker Intelligence Cloud to continually optimize its defensive capabilities, even against fast moving zero day threats. Customers are able to more efficiently manage networks, maintain high-availability and quickly respond to threats, incidents and opportunities whether on traditional networks or in the cloud.

In addition, Stonesoft NGFW 6.1 now enables virtual firewalls to be deployed in Amazon Web Services (AWS) while still being centrally administered alongside physical firewall appliances. This new capability makes it easier for organizations of all sizes to manage firewalls across campuses, remote offices and the cloud.

Stonesoft 6.1 also makes it possible for organizations to use Forcepoint’s Sidewinder Security Module on its next-generation firewalls. This proxy technology for UDP, TCP, HTTP and SSH delivers an extra level of security for mission-critical services and applications. As the only NGFW to have this technology, Stonesoft offers Sidewinder customers an upgrade path, giving them increased functionality and a single management console to more effectively manage their proxy-based security policies.

The Stonesoft NGFW has been successfully tested against more than 800 million Advanced Evasion Techniques (AETs), exposing rogue traffic via the application of centrally managed security policies and deep packet inspection. NSS Labs recently released its 2016 Next Generation Intrusion Prevention System Comparative Report (NGIPS) in which the Forcepoint Stonesoft NGFW received 99.9% block rate for security effectiveness and was “Recommended” for overall security effectiveness, performance, and total cost of ownership. Highlights from the report include:
