Mindtree Encourages Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities; Sponsors Helen Keller Awards 2016

Mindtree, a leading digital transformation and technology services company, has partnered with the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), to sponsor this year’s Helen Keller Awards.mindtree-people-with-disabilities

Initiated by the NCPEDP, these awards recognize and honor exemplary work done by individuals and organizations towards improving the lives of people with disabilities (PWD) by providing equal opportunities and advocating their intrinsic right to work.

“The Helen Keller Awards has been tremendously successful in drawing attention to the cause of people with disabilities and opening a dialogue on their intrinsic right to work,” said Abraham Moses, General Manager, Mindtree Foundation. “Inclusivity of people with disabilities has been a crucial aspect of Mindtree’s charter and Mindtree Foundation has done extensive work in developing technologies to assist people with disabilities.” he added.

Twelve awards have been announced under three categories and include a mix of individuals, NGOs and corporates.

“There has been tremendous improvement in the quantity and quality of applications received this year.  This is really great because it is demonstrative of a significant mind shift among employers about opening up their workplaces for the differently-abled. We thank Mindtree for partnering with us for this initiative,” said Javed Abidi, Honorary Director, NCPEDP.

The award ceremony will be held in New Delhi on December 2, 2016, on the eve of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
