Technical Glitch Postpones Chnadrayaan 2 Launch

In the early hours of July 15, India’s ambitious second Lunar mission, Chandrayaan 2 experienced a shock after a technical snag forced the Indian Space Research Organization to call off the launch for the time being. ISRO aimed to reach the moon’s South Pole where no country had previously set foot.

Technical Glitch Postpones Chnadrayaan 2 Launch

A technical snag was observed in launch vehicle system one hour before the launch. As a measure of abundant precaution, Chandrayaan 2 launch has been called off for today. Revised launch date will be announced later,” ISRO tweeted. President Ram Nath Kovind had flown in to Sriharikota to witness the launch.

At the media center, confusion prevailed as the countdown timer stopped for the lift-off with 56.24 minutes. Mission Control announced the retention of the countdown. “The launch can’t be made within the launch window. We will announce a new timetable later,”said Mission Control.

ISRO had a launch window that ends on July 16. Chandrayaan 2’s launch has suffered several setbacks since 2018, with ISRO missing many deadlines. It was planned to be started in a window between January and mid-February this year but was placed off again.

Only 20 minutes after ISRO announced the completion of liquid hydrogen filling in the GSLV-Mk-III cryogenic stage, the mission was aborted.

“We noticed the technical snag. To evaluate the issue, we must first approach the vehicle. We must first empty the petrol loaded in the rocket, then take back the rocket for further inquiry. This method will take ten days after which we can decide on the timetable for the launch,”an ISRO official informed IANS.
