In addition to high data rates, Wi-Fi 6, which is supposed to be launched later this year, also offers enhanced ability, enhanced control over how customers access the network, enhanced performance in settings with many linked devices, and lower device battery consumption.

“We are ready with access points for Wi-Fi 6,” said Anand Patil, Director of Systems Engineering, Cisco India and Saarc, adding that Wi-Fi 6 complements the 5G network.

“We’re betting big on 5G. In the next five years, 5G will have a critical role to play in making India a $5 trillion economy,” added Anand Bhaskar, Managing Director, Service Providers Sales, Cisco India and Saarc. Cisco, he said, currently has 100 commitments around 5G going on worldwide, while 40 tests are rolling out at various stages.

But India needs to beef up the fiberization process to tap the 5G opportunity, he added.

Cisco also focuses on intent-based networking, multi-cloud and security to drive business growth in addition to 5G and Wi-Fi 6. As far as safety is concerned, Cisco said it thinks in an integrated strategy in which security is incorporated into every product.
