Steel Authority of India Intends to Expand Adoption of HPE GreenLake

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced that Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of the country’s largest steel producers, has selected the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform for its Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) to modernize its critical SAP environment, accelerate its digital transformation agenda and reduce its environmental footprint.

SAIL is an Indian government-owned steel company, and its Bokaro Steel Plant is currently undergoing a massive modernization and digital transformation drive led by Director in-charge Amarendu Prakash. The demands on its mission-critical ERP environment have increased over the last 12 years as the business has required new applications and functionality, but many of the systems are now nearing end of life and difficult to upgrade. As a result, Bokaro Steel Plant needed a major overhaul to ensure business continuity and improve service levels to the company and its users.

SAIL investigated several options before settling on HPE GreenLake for its Bokaro Steel Plant to support its modernization initiative and migration of its ERP Landscape to the new platform. SAIL expects to increase user productivity, decrease turnaround times for new initiatives, and improve operational efficiency with this latest implementation.

The HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform will offer a unified on-premises cloud experience, including on-demand capacity and granular consumption-based pricing. It provides SAIL Bokaro Steel Plant with a dashboard to monitor and plan IT consumption, improving capacity planning and forecasting. As a result, the team can now allocate resources more effectively and make more informed decisions.
