Salesforce Intends to Expand India Headcount to 10,000 by Jan’23

Salesforce India will increase its headcount in the country to 10,000 by January next year, up from 7,500 currently, according to Arundhati Bhattacharya, the company’s chairperson and CEO.

According to Bhattacharya, Salesforce’s priority areas in India are banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), manufacturing, services, and social services. According to reports, Salesforce India employs over 7,500 individuals. They expect to end FY23, which ends in January 2023, in the 10,000 range.

Salesforce has offices in six Indian cities, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune, Gurugram, and Jaipur.

During the pandemic, Salesforce increased its headcount in India from 2,500 in April 2020 to 7,500. In response to a question about flexible and hybrid work cultures post-pandemic, she stated that Salesforce will see an increasing number of employees return to the workplace. Bhattacharya pointed out that when people come back to offices, the sense of collaboration and belonging increases.

She stated in a statement that if one does not get them to come to the office and connect, it becomes increasingly difficult to create an organization’s DNA. While acknowledging that some degree of working hybrid is required, she stated that there are multi-generational families at home and that many people find it difficult to work from home due to a lack of space.

Work culture in India, according to Bhattacharya, will evolve into a model where more people will come to the office on more days, but work from home will also continue depending on their convenience. When asked what the next set of skills Indian youth should learn, she suggested learning niche technology used by Software as a Service (or SaaS) companies and cloud-based companies.

Because there is so much legacy industry, Bhattacharya also mentioned that skills like analytics and integration are in high demand. According to her, cybersecurity is another area where skills are in high demand because no one knows where it will go or how it will evolve.

Noting that the current economy’s hallmark is that all cycles (economic, market cycles, fashion) are becoming shorter and shorter, she stated in a statement that without the help of technology, one cannot remain nimble and agile, and cannot possibly meet the demands of people’s changing needs.

Bhattacharya emphasized that the ability of people to adopt digital will drive the desired increase in India’s GDP. Because we have a young population that appears to be not only aware but also capable of rapidly changing and adapting, she explained.

Noting that technology and finance are becoming increasingly intertwined, Salesforce India CEO said in a statement that without technology, there will be no financial growth.

She emphasized that, following the end of the COVID pandemic, productivity and efficiency have become extremely important, and this is where digital plays such an important role. Bhattacharya further stated that because achieving more with less is only possible when one uses digital in many of their activities.
