Today, TiE Mumbai has welcomed Ranu Vohra and Dr. Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, who will respectively be taking up the roles of President and President Elect of the organisation from April 2023 for a two-year term. In the past two years, TiE Mumbai has seen a substantial increase in its charter member base, revenue and outreach to entrepreneurs, whilst successfully transitioning from digital to physical meetings, events and catch-ups post-pandemic.

Amit Mookim, Past President of TiE Mumbai, applauded the leadership team for their efforts in the past two years and the upcoming transition: “TiE Mumbai’s charter member base has grown 2x, with revenue also increasing to 2x and projected to reach 3x by the end of this year. Ranu and Apoorva have been part of the TiE Mumbai and TiE network for a long time, and are well-positioned to scale TiE Mumbai even further and continue the growth trajectory.”

Ranu Vohra, the incoming President of TiE Mumbai, further added: “TiE Mumbai has been the foundation for innovation and a platform for entrepreneurs to interact, learn and establish more sustainable and robust businesses. My aim is to uphold TiE Mumbai’s legacy while creating an even better startup ecosystem in Mumbai. I thank the Past Presidents and the current Board of TiE for electing me to this position.”

Dr. Apoorva Ranjan Sharma, the President Elect, said, “The startup sector in India is experiencing incredible growth and I am eager to contribute to this momentum in my new role at TiE Mumbai. I am looking forward to working closely with Ranu and the board to continue the legacy and focus on structured mentoring to add value to the stakeholders by fostering entrepreneurship, boosting innovation, knowledge sharing and funding.”

Harish Mehta, Author of The Maverick Effect, Co-Founder, First Elected Chairperson of NASSCOM, Chairman of the Past Presidents Council at TiE Mumbai and Founder and Chairman of Onward Technologies Ltd. praised the new leadership team: “Their combination covers the entire breadth of the industry effectively. Ranu brings with him his wealth of experience with late-stage startups and investments, while Apoorva provides immense value with his strong investment network for early- to growth-stage companies.”

The new leadership team will strive to strengthen the startup environment in the city, by connecting with investors, government, corporations and trade networks, as well as delivering knowledge- and agenda-driven programs to make Mumbai a preferred destination for startups.
