Indian IT Leaders Most Confident in Infrastructure’s AI Readiness, Survey Reveals

Indian IT leaders have expressed the highest level of confidence in their existing IT infrastructure’s preparedness for artificial intelligence (AI), according to the Equinix 2023 Global Tech Trends Survey. The study found that 85% of surveyed IT leaders in India believe their infrastructure is ready for the demands of AI, while only 56% in the broader Asia-Pacific region share the same level of certainty.

The survey examined IT leaders’ perspectives on AI advancements within their organizations and follows a year of notable breakthroughs in AI technology, with widespread deployment in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer applications.

Results indicate a growing adoption of AI across all industry sectors, with over 90% of Indian IT decision-makers aiming to leverage AI’s advantages, either currently or in their future plans. The top areas for AI implementation are IT operations (93%), e-commerce (93%), and customer experience (92%).

To drive innovation and navigate the evolving digital landscape, Indian IT leaders are urged to prioritize cybersecurity, assess risks, and embrace transformative technologies like 5G, AI, and IoT, according to Manoj Paul, managing director of Equinix India. The survey also highlights the importance of education and collaboration, with AI and machine learning expertise being the most sought-after skills (56%) for expanding IT teams.

With Asia-Pacific poised to contribute around 70% of global growth in 2023, the survey reveals that 58% of Indian businesses plan to expand to new countries within the next 12 months, emphasizing the region’s robust potential and ongoing digital infrastructure development.
