NetApp, a leading provider of secure data storage solutions, announced today the introduction of new capabilities in NetApp BlueXP, further solidifying its position as the preferred option for secure data storage. In the current technology landscape, data has never been more valuable or more vulnerable. It drives operations, fosters innovation, and delivers exceptional customer experiences. Therefore, the impact of cyber threats such as ransomware attacks and potential data loss or corruption can be devastating. Data infrastructures today often span multiple cloud environments and on-premises systems, which complicates data protection, security, and compliance. In addition, skill shortages and budget constraints add to these challenges.
To address these pressing issues, companies require greater simplicity in data management and enhanced security to safeguard their data assets and mitigate catastrophic losses. The new capabilities introduced in BlueXP build upon its unified experience, offering data service capabilities to discover, manage, and protect data across multi-cloud infrastructures. Leveraging AI/ML operations, these capabilities ensure optimum business outcomes.
The latest feature updates and innovations encompass simplified backup and recovery, data protection across a wider range of environments, and deployment in highly secure settings, including government sites. With consistent operations that deliver a uniform experience across all applications, BlueXP empowers organizations to manage their data effectively.
Ravi Chhabria, Managing Director of NetApp India, highlighted the differentiated approach that BlueXP brings to the hybrid multi-cloud challenge, stating, “Our commitment is to continually enable AIOps in ever-expanding ways, simplifying complex storage and data management operations while enhancing our customers’ cyber resilience through BlueXP. This approach already supports the most secure government environments and aligns with the demands of our commercial customers in today’s modern data world.”
The new NetApp BlueXP capabilities include:
- Cohesive data protection strategies: BlueXP’s backup and recovery now offer a single control plane, simplifying customized backup strategies on a workload-by-workload basis. This eliminates the need for multiple tools and specialized resources. The backup and recovery capabilities have also been extended to a wider range of workloads, supporting application-consistent database deployments in major clouds using NetApp software-defined or hyper scaler-native storage offerings.
- Deployment in secure environments: BlueXP now supports private and restricted modes of deployment, enabling its use in highly secure, compliance-sensitive environments, including government clouds and ‘dark site’ implementations that require full isolation from internet connectivity. Additionally, Cloud Insights Federal Edition is available for deployment in environments requiring FedRAMP high-impact level protections. Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) is now accessible in the AWS Marketplace for the U.S. Intelligence Community, providing improved security, increased mission impact, and cost savings.
NetApp BlueXP serves as the central management method for NetApp ONTAP, the company’s leading data management software deployed in the cloud and on-premises. The announcement of NetApp BlueXP includes more than a dozen feature updates and innovations, further strengthening its capabilities in the realm of secure data storage.
