Hyderabad-based multinational pharmaceutical company, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has chosen Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider to enhance access to affordable and innovative medicines. The collaboration includes migrating Dr. Reddy’s SAP platform entirely onto AWS, enabling accelerated development of healthcare applications and the growth of their digital platform. By leveraging AWS, Dr. Reddy’s aims to serve over 1.5 billion patients globally by 2030 and empower healthcare providers with better patient progress tracking.
Since 2019, Dr. Reddy’s has been progressively shifting its digital applications to AWS, automating its IT infrastructure, and improving customer service by launching new applications more quickly. Dr. Reddy’s is one of the first AWS customers to run its data center and disaster recovery workloads from both the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) and AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) regions. This ensures greater service continuity by leveraging multiple highly available data centers in India.
Mukesh Rathi, Chief Information and Digital Officer at Dr. Reddy’s, highlighted the partnership with AWS as a means to provide affordable healthcare worldwide and accelerate the delivery of high-quality digital products. The reliability of AWS technology supports their sustainability goals, facilitating greener supply chains.
In addition to the cloud migration and modernization efforts, Dr. Reddy’s and Amazon have established a strategic collaboration to build innovative go-to-market models, fueling long-term growth. The extensive experience of AWS in supporting healthcare customers globally, combined with their cloud technologies and global infrastructure, empowers Dr. Reddy’s to deliver differentiated customer and patient experiences while reducing their environmental impact.
AWS has also announced plans to invest Rs 105,600 crore (US $12.7 billion) in cloud infrastructure in India by 2030 to meet the increasing demand for cloud services. This investment is projected to contribute Rs 194,700 crore (US $23.3 billion) to India’s GDP by 2030.
