Integrated logistics services provider Delhivery has teamed up with private equity firm Nexus Ventures and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to introduce “Velocity,” a six-week startup accelerator program aimed at nurturing and empowering emerging entrepreneurs and innovators in the logistics sector.
The inaugural edition of this accelerator program, which commenced in August 2023, brought together prominent financial and sectoral experts to offer industry-focused mentorship to selected startups. The program featured over 15 sessions, covering a wide array of essential startup topics. Distinguished mentors, including Vibhor Jain, President of Network Governance & COO of ONDC; Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Food Marketplace at Swiggy; and Naman Jain, Founder of Falcon Autotech, provided valuable insights.
Out of 234 applicants, 20 early-stage startups were selected for the program. These startups represented various sectors, including:
- Warehousing-focused companies like ODWEN, Wherehouse, and Warehousity.
- Electric vehicle (EV) fleet providers, such as EVIFY and Zyngo.
- Agritech startups like Upjao Agrotech and E Sandhai.
- Aggregator platforms, including Paapos, Hyphen SCS, and Loadexx, among others.
During the program, startups received mentorship and practical guidance on topics such as people & culture, fundraising strategies, growth hacking, and profitability. They had the opportunity to present their solutions to venture capitalists (VCs) and influential super angels. Additionally, each startup was granted AWS Activate Credits worth $25,000 to access AWS cloud services, facilitating the development and scaling of their technology infrastructure.
Ritu Mishra, Co-founder & Product Head of Upjao, an agri-tech firm, highlighted the importance of AI-driven solutions in standardizing the quality control process for agri-commodities. The Velocity program provided Upjao with valuable interactions with industry experts and VCs to support their vision.
Kapil Bharati, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Director at Delhivery, emphasized the exponential growth expected in the logistics industry within India’s expanding economy. He noted that the program aimed to build a logistics ecosystem, enabling entrepreneurs to transform their ideas into viable business solutions.
Following the program’s conclusion, startups from the cohort have become part of a collaborative peer-to-peer network. This network encourages knowledge-sharing and allows startups to learn from each other’s experiences and achievements.
