Persistent Systems Unveils Cutting-Edge Open-Source Maintenance Service in Collaboration with Lineaje

Persistent Systems has unveiled a groundbreaking open-source maintenance service, aiming to streamline the management of an organization’s open-source software. This service, driven by a team of specialists armed with the latest technologies, ensures that open-source software remains current with patches, bug fixes, and the latest releases. Recognizing that over 90% of an application’s software is built on open-source components, Persistent’s service tackles the challenge of potential delays in upgrades and maintenance that organizations face while waiting for fixes from the open-source community.

The open-source maintenance service from Persistent accelerates an enterprise’s operational optimization by providing fast, high-quality, and secure fixes, often within hours. Leveraging advanced technologies such as Large Language Models and Generative AI, the service ensures efficiency in addressing vulnerabilities, enhancing software performance, and meeting security compliance obligations.

Persistent offers a range of solutions under this service, starting with a complimentary project assessment that provides insights into potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement. Two premium subscription options are also available: one offering timely alerts and support for available solutions with customized fixes, and the other, a comprehensive package providing end-to-end automated deployment of solutions.

To bolster the capabilities of its open-source service, Persistent has partnered with Lineaje Inc., a leading expert in software supply chain security management. Lineaje’s technology and advanced AI capabilities will enable clients to gain visibility into open-source components, assess impact, and prioritize maintenance based on compatibility, integrity, and security.

The service ensures that open-source updates are compatible with existing software components, offering VEX (Vulnerability Exploitability eXchange) documents for potential vulnerabilities. It delivers pre-tested certified fixes for risks promptly, ensuring security and compatibility.

Nitish Shrivastava, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Business at Persistent, emphasized that organizations often lag in software upgrades, and issues discovered in open-source code remain unresolved for extended periods. Persistent’s unique offering aims to provide high-quality, customized fixes to open-source components, enhancing operational efficiency and governance standards in a shorter timeframe.

Javed Hasan, CEO of Lineaje Inc., highlighted the critical need for managed and secure open-source components, given the prevalence of security and maintainability issues in the majority of such components.

Nico Popp, Chief Product Officer at Tenable, emphasized the pivotal role of open-source components in today’s software landscape. Acknowledging the security challenges, Persistent, with its extensive history in product engineering, combined with Lineaje’s technology, stands as an ideal solution to address these critical needs.
