HFCL Bags Rs. 1,127 Crore Order to Transform BSNL’s Optical Transport Network

HFCL has secured a monumental order worth Rs. 1,127 Crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). This landmark deal is set to revolutionize BSNL’s Optical Transport Network (OTN) infrastructure on a pan-India scale.

Amidst the impending era of 5G networks and surging demand for widespread broadband connectivity, Communication Service Providers face the crucial challenge of reinforcing backhaul transport to support the densification of 5G mobile networks. HFCL’s expansive network upgrade is poised to meet the heightened demands of Enterprise and FTTH/Broadband services while strategically positioning BSNL for the seamless launch of 4G services and the anticipated advent of 5G.

In a strategic collaboration, HFCL has partnered with the NOKIA Network to deploy state-of-the-art optical technology, underscoring a commitment to deliver solutions that transcend industry standards and redefine technological excellence.

The transformative initiative extends to upgrading BSNL’s network through OTN enhancements at over 300 large network nodes and 2000 amplifier sites, with the entire installation process targeted to conclude within an ambitious 18-month timeframe. This comprehensive endeavor covers the Supply, Installation, Commissioning, and Maintenance of OTN, solidifying HFCL’s reputation as a trusted and forward-thinking player in advancing communication infrastructure.

Anticipating remarkable outcomes, BSNL, fortified by this Optical Network upgrade, is poised to achieve an impressive data capacity of 12 terabytes, effectively meeting its data needs for the next decade. The backbone network, spanning 310 aggregation locations, will play a pivotal role in empowering 4G, 5G, and BharatNet services, positioning BSNL at the forefront of India’s digital revolution.
