Vertiv, a global provider of digital infrastructure solutions, has bolstered its commitment to India’s flourishing data center industry by unveiling a new manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. This move is aligned with Vertiv’s support for the Make in India initiative, reinforcing its dedication to the country’s data center ecosystem. The facility, spanning 210,000 square feet, joins Vertiv’s existing manufacturing plants in Ambernath and Pune.
The new plant is strategically positioned to meet the escalating demand for data centers and supporting infrastructure solutions in India, catering to domestic and international markets. Specializing in thermal management products and solutions tailored for data centers, telecom, commercial, and industrial applications, the facility is equipped to manufacture cooling solutions ranging from 200W to 2MW+.
Giordano Albertazzi, CEO, Vertiv, emphasized the significance of India’s role in the data center landscape, stating, “India’s emergence as a data center hub in the APAC region is a key reason that we built this third manufacturing facility in India, and it reinforces our commitment to nurturing the country’s data center ecosystem while also addressing global demand.”
The facility is designed to enhance manufacturing capabilities for various cooling solutions, including adiabatic free cooling chillers, custom air handling units, thermal wall units, in-row cooling units, and rack cooling systems. It features state-of-the-art psychometric labs for performance testing, a dedicated customer experience center, and design support capabilities. Situated in an India Green Building Council (IGBC) compliant park, the facility aligns with sustainability goals, focusing on reducing its environmental impact.
India’s data center industry is experiencing remarkable growth, with projections indicating a substantial expansion in the coming years. A JLL report anticipates a robust 678 MW increase in capacity, reaching 1400 MW by 2025, positioning India as the 13th largest market globally. The industry is poised for significant development, with 45 new data centers covering 13 million square feet and a capacity of 1,015 MW slated for development by 2025, contributing to an estimated industry size of $9.27 billion by 2027, according to India Briefing.
Subhasis Majumdar, Managing Director, Vertiv India, highlighted the new plant’s role in meeting the growing demands of the data center industry, emphasizing Vertiv’s commitment to delivering tailored solutions aligned with India’s unique environmental and infrastructural needs.
