NAMTECH and Cisco Join Forces for Cybersecurity Education in India.

NAMTECH, the educational initiative by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), has recently joined forces with Cisco, a global technology provider, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Their collaborative effort is centered around the creation of academic programs dedicated to cybersecurity, networking, and experiential learning in artificial intelligence (AI).

The primary objective is to design comprehensive training modules tailored specifically for the manufacturing industry. This collaborative partnership between NAMTECH and Cisco aims to elevate skills and knowledge in crucial areas, contributing significantly to the technological progress of the manufacturing sector.

The collaboration addresses the growing demand for skilled professionals in cybersecurity and networking, intending to assist manufacturing entities in their digital transformation towards adopting Industry 4.0 technologies.

Cisco’s advanced training modules will be seamlessly integrated into NAMTECH’s existing programs, including the International Professional Masters Program (iPMP) and the upcoming International Professional Technologists Program (iPTP). The initiative encompasses training in Cisco’s cyber range and smart city solutions, offering a holistic approach to skill development in these essential technological domains.

This collaborative agreement, formalized during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, envisions the establishment of a talent pipeline exceeding 5,000 engineers and technicians over the next five years. NAMTECH’s vision includes setting up an industry-grade Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Gujarat, with the partnership with Cisco marking a crucial step towards realizing this vision.

Beyond skill development, the program creates pathways for career opportunities within Cisco and its extensive partner ecosystem, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship that enriches talent and contributes meaningfully to the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity and technology.

Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon’ble Minister of Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, and Railways, underscored the significance of collaboration between industry and educational institutions in advancing India’s ambitions of becoming a high-tech manufacturing hub and a global leader in innovative technology production and export.

Harish Krishnan, Managing Director and Chief Policy Officer, Cisco India & SAARC, emphasized the critical role of cybersecurity in safeguarding digital manufacturing processes and data integrity. He expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with NAMTECH to cultivate a future-ready and skilled workforce.

Arun Kumar Pillai, Director General, NAMTECH, highlighted the program’s emphasis on bridging the gap between academia and industry application. He stated that the collaboration with Cisco is geared towards preparing students for fulfilling careers in the era of Industry 4.0.
