Amazon India Digitizes Traditional Local Stores in Anticipation of Republic Day

Amazon India’s Local Shops program has spearheaded the digital transformation of over 10,000 local stores in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Delhi, just ahead of the 75th Republic Day. This initiative promises a seamless shopping experience that combines the reliability of in-person shopping with the convenience of online platforms. Traditional markets, including Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazaar, Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Lajpat Nagar, and Karol Bagh, along with Kolhapur’s Mahadwar Road and Gujarat’s vibrant markets, have undergone a digital makeover. Notable stores like Belsui Clothing, Kiyana Enterprise, and Alaayana from Gujarat are now accessible on the Amazon India platform. Abhishek Jain, Head of Local Shops at Amazon India, expressed excitement about the nationwide expansion of the program, highlighting its success in onboarding over three lakh brick-and-mortar retailers and local stores across 344 cities in India. The initiative aims to transition one million local offline retailers and neighborhood stores to online platforms by 2025, fostering their entry into the digital economy.
