Binny Bansal, co-founder of Flipkart, has officially resigned from the board of the company, marking the conclusion of his association with the internet firm he co-established with Sachin Bansal in 2007. Flipkart, initially an online bookstore, evolved into a major e-commerce player, attracting global investors and ultimately being acquired by Walmart in 2018. Binny Bansal, expressing confidence in Flipkart’s robust position and capable leadership, has decided to step aside, stating his support for the business’s continued transformation. His resignation aligns with the launch of his new startup, OppDoor, focused on assisting e-commerce brands in expanding on platforms like Amazon and Etsy, while also optimizing global sales strategies. Last year, Bansal and other early investors sold their remaining stakes to Walmart, increasing Walmart’s shareholding in Flipkart to 80.5%, with Bansal holding a 1.8% stake at the time of the transaction.
