NETGEAR Welcomes Charles (CJ) Prober, a Tech Innovator, as Its New CEO

NETGEAR, a prominent global networking company specializing in innovative products for consumers and businesses, has disclosed a significant leadership transition. Patrick C. S. Lo, the current CEO and Chairman, is retiring, marking the end of his influential three-decade tenure. In a planned move, Lo will stay on as a strategic advisor until July 2024 to facilitate a seamless transition. The Board has swiftly appointed Charles (CJ) Prober, a distinguished technology executive, as the new CEO, effective immediately. Prober, known for his expertise in consumer electronics, software, and subscription services, will also join NETGEAR’s Board of Directors.

The decision to appoint Prober stems from a comprehensive 12-month search by the NETGEAR Board, aimed at securing a next-generation leader capable of steering the company towards continued success in the consumer and business networking industry. Prober’s selection enjoys unanimous support from the Board, reflecting his alignment with the criteria crucial for NETGEAR’s future achievements.

NETGEAR’s Lead Independent Director, Thomas H. Waechter, acknowledged Patrick Lo’s undeniable impact on the company as a co-founder and leader for nearly three decades. Lo’s vision and contributions have significantly shaped NETGEAR’s identity. The Board expresses full confidence in CJ Prober, eagerly anticipating collaboration to guide the company through its next phase of innovation.

In his statement, Patrick Lo, reflecting on the company’s 28-year journey, praised the evolution of NETGEAR into a pioneer of advanced networking technologies for global homes and businesses. He expressed enthusiasm for the forthcoming chapter in NETGEAR’s story.

CJ Prober, the newly appointed CEO, brings a wealth of experience in driving growth and innovation throughout his career. His leadership roles include President of Life360, CEO at Tile, COO at GoPro, and SVP of Digital Publishing at Electronic Arts. Prober, currently serving on the boards of Life360 and Glorious Gaming, is recognized for his contributions to subscription and revenue growth at various companies, including Life360, Tile, and GoPro. His previous role at EA saw him play a pivotal role in the company’s transition from packaged software to a digital services provider, unlocking substantial shareholder value.
