According to Sophos, a prominent cybersecurity provider, their recent report, conducted in collaboration with Tech Research Asia (TRA), unveils a concerning trend in India’s cybersecurity and IT sectors. The study reveals that a staggering 83% of professionals in these fields are experiencing burnout and fatigue, impacting their performance and leading to potential cybersecurity breaches.

  • Burnout is widespread, with 93% reporting increased feelings of exhaustion over the past year, the highest among Asia Pacific and Japan.
  • 25% of respondents attribute cybersecurity breaches to burnout, while 22% report slower response times to incidents.
  • Main causes of burnout include resource shortages, monotonous tasks, pressure from management, alert overload, and increased threat activity.

Impact on Employees:

  • 34% feel less diligent in their roles, while 48% experience heightened anxiety during breaches.
  • 36% express cynicism and detachment towards cybersecurity responsibilities, leading to decreased productivity and resignations.
  • 31% of resignations are directly linked to stress and burnout.
