Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) CEO K Krithivasan stated that the company has no intentions of decreasing its hiring numbers but may adjust hiring pace based on market demands. TCS, being the largest Indian software exporter in terms of workforce, revenue, and profit, made this announcement amid reports of a slowdown in hiring within the software industry due to declining demand from key markets and withdrawal of campus offers.
Krithivasan emphasized that despite economic challenges, TCS remains committed to hiring and may adapt hiring strategies as necessary while maintaining its recruitment plans. He indicated that while the company has observed positive signs in the economy, it will continue to hire in line with its existing plans without scaling back.
TCS currently employs over 600,000 individuals, and Krithivasan noted that the company remains cautiously optimistic about its future prospects. However, specific hiring figures were not disclosed during the recent earnings call for the December quarter.
Regarding the company’s stance on remote work, Krithivasan expressed skepticism about the efficacy of remote or hybrid models for individual and organizational growth. He stressed the importance of in-person collaboration and learning from colleagues and seniors in the workplace. According to him, critical aspects of organizational culture and values are best learned through physical interactions rather than virtual meetings. Krithivasan highlighted that the majority of TCS’s clients are eager to return to office-based work, emphasizing the value of in-office collaboration and learning experiences.
