Cloudera Reveals Next Stage of Open Data Lakehouse Initiative Aimed at Optimizing Customer Data for Advancing Enterprise AI

Cloudera Reveals Next Phase of Open Data Lakehouse Strategy Centered on Leveraging Customer Data to Enable Enterprise AI Cloudera is now the exclusive provider offering an open data lakehouse featuring Apache Iceberg for both public and private cloud environments.

Bengaluru, India, March 6, 2024 — Cloudera, renowned for its role as a trusted enterprise AI data company, has announced advancements in its open data lakehouse strategy, tailored specifically for private cloud deployments. This advancement aims to transform on-premises data experiences, facilitating scalable analytics and AI on a trusted platform. With the latest enhancements, Cloudera distinguishes itself as the sole provider offering an open data lakehouse solution integrating Apache Iceberg, catering to both public and private cloud infrastructures. This development is poised to enable customers to fully harness the potential of enterprise AI across their entire data landscape.

According to Cloudera’s research findings, a significant portion (53%) of U.S. organizations are currently utilizing Generative AI technology, with more than a third (36%) exploring AI implementation in 2024. However, adoption rates have been hindered by various challenges, including fragmented data infrastructures, governance risks, and security concerns, which have impeded the realization of AI-driven business value from data.

By introducing Apache Iceberg for private cloud environments, Cloudera aims to address these obstacles, empowering organizations to rapidly scale enterprise AI initiatives and unlock greater value from their data assets. Apache Iceberg, recognized for its open-source, high-performance table format, facilitates efficient AI application across extensive datasets stored in both cloud and on-premises environments, thereby fostering the creation of innovative use cases. Additionally, Cloudera sets itself apart as the only provider offering a fully air-gapped large language model (LLM) deployment, enhancing security, data privacy, performance, and operational efficiency for customers.

Cloudera is also introducing a series of additional updates to its platform, aimed at delivering unprecedented business value to its customer base, including:

  • Zero downtime upgrades (ZDU) and security enhancements like Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 to enhance business continuity and minimize interruptions.
  • New features of Apache Ozone, such as quotas, snapshots, and disaster recovery enhancements, enabling significantly greater scalability at reduced costs to meet the demanding data consumption needs of modern workloads.
  • Expanded support for integrations, including Python 3.10, RHEL 9.1, RHEL 8.8 FIPS, SLES 15 SP4, Oracle 8.8, and JDK 17, enhancing compatibility and flexibility.

Dipto Chakravarty, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, emphasized the company’s mission to empower customers to transform data into actionable insights with AI, providing them with a trusted data foundation for analytics. Sanjeev Mohan, Principal at SanjMo, highlighted the significance of a comprehensive data management strategy to enable organizations to capitalize on AI advancements effectively.

Customer testimonials include commendations from Dr. David Hardoon, Group Chief Data & AI Officer at Union Bank of the Philippines, and Fred Roteseree, Head of Data Analytics at Krungsri Bank, underscoring Cloudera’s pivotal role in enabling impactful AI-driven projects and personalized customer experiences.
