Wipro’s CEO, Thierry Delaporte, has resigned, with Srini Pallia, the head of Wipro’s Americas division, set to take over as the new CEO and Managing Director from April 7. Delaporte’s departure follows a period of significant changes within Wipro’s leadership and challenges in performance. Delaporte, the first European to lead Wipro, will be stepping down to pursue personal interests outside of work, with Pallia set to lead the company for the next five years. The announcement came after a closed-door meeting of Wipro’s key board members on Saturday. Delaporte’s tenure saw various exits of senior leadership and criticism for the company’s underperformance. However, Wipro’s chairman, Rishad Premji, expressed gratitude to Delaporte for implementing changes that have positioned the company better for the future. Pallia’s appointment is seen as a return to entrusting a veteran with the top job, with hopes for stability and a morale boost within the company. Pallia, who joined Wipro in 1992, has held several leadership roles, including heading the Americas division, Wipro’s largest market.
