Google has introduced a new Arm-based chip to rival competitors like Microsoft and Amazon, as announced by Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian at the annual Google Cloud Next 2024 event in Las Vegas. The Axion Processor, Google’s first custom Arm-based central processing unit (CPU) designed for data centers, promises enhanced performance and energy efficiency compared to current x86-based instances.
