Cloudera Reveals Data-in-Motion Products as Kubernetes Operators for Red Hat OpenShift

Revamp your Apache NiFi, Apache Kafka, and Apache Flink setups for flexible scaling and enhanced resource management.

INDIA, May 8, 2024 – Cloudera, renowned for its role as the data leader for trusted enterprise AI, has unveiled Cloudera Flow Management – Kubernetes Operator and Cloudera Streaming – Kubernetes Operator. These offerings empower customers to deploy Apache NiFi, Apache Kafka, and Apache Flink clusters on Kubernetes application platforms like Red Hat OpenShift, the premier hybrid cloud application platform fueled by Kubernetes. Through these forthcoming Kubernetes Operators, users can seamlessly implement end-to-end data streaming capabilities within their existing Kubernetes clusters, reaping the benefits of automatic scaling, efficient resource allocation, and simplified setup and management.

Cloudera’s Data-in-Motion solutions act as the bridge connecting all enterprise data assets, furnishing streaming data and real-time insights to any destination system or application. By leveraging the operator pattern familiar to Red Hat OpenShift users, Cloudera Flow Management – Kubernetes Operator and Cloudera Streaming – Kubernetes Operator effectively reduce operational complexities.

Dipto Chakravarty, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We’re thrilled to pioneer operator and commercial support for organizations seeking to deploy Apache NiFi data flows on Red Hat OpenShift. Customers of Cloudera Flow Management and open source aficionados transitioning to Kubernetes operators will experience immediate advantages, including auto-scaling capabilities and simplified cluster setup and management.”

Tushar Katarki, Senior Director of Product Management for Hybrid Cloud Platforms at Red Hat, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Red Hat is dedicated to empowering organizations with open source technologies across hybrid cloud environments. We are delighted to collaborate with Cloudera in facilitating the deployment of streaming pipelines on Red Hat OpenShift, thereby accelerating innovation projects and enabling seamless scalability.”

Matthias Broecheler, CEO & Founder at DataSQRL, emphasized the significance of the collaboration with Cloudera, noting, “DataSQRL simplifies and expedites the development of streaming data products and real-time AI applications atop Cloudera Data Platform by eliminating data integration and plumbing. Our partnership with Cloudera and their new Streaming Kubernetes Operator streamlines the management and operation of the underlying technologies essential for these applications.”

The Data-in-Motion products, available as Kubernetes Operators for operation on Red Hat OpenShift, are currently in tech preview and are scheduled for general availability in the second half of 2024. Customers can swiftly install the Kubernetes Operator on their Red Hat OpenShift cluster after downloading the binaries from Cloudera’s repository, initiating the creation of NiFi, Kafka, or Flink clusters tailored to their requirements.
