Wipro has promoted Vinay Firake, a seasoned company veteran with three decades of experience, to lead its Asia Pacific business, which includes India, the Middle East, and Africa. This decision comes following the early departure of its first expat CEO and the appointment of internal talent to oversee the company’s turnaround efforts. Firake, who has been with Wipro for 26 years, will now serve as the CEO of the APMEA (Asia Pacific, India, Middle East & Africa) strategic market unit. He will report to CEO Srini Pallia and join the Wipro Executive Board. Firake’s previous role was as senior vice president and managing director of Wipro’s Nordics business unit in Stockholm, Sweden. This appointment marks the second senior leadership change since Srini Pallia took over as CEO in April. Anis Chenchah, another CapGemini veteran, is stepping down from his role, and Firake will take over, with Chenchah assisting in the transition until May 31, 2024. Wipro’s decision to appoint Firake reflects its commitment to revitalizing its business in the APMEA region, which is seen as one of its most promising strategic market units. Firake’s extensive experience, particularly in leading Wipro’s operations in diverse global regions, makes him well-suited for this role. He holds a master’s degree in business administration with a specialization in finance and has completed executive leadership programs at both Wharton and Harvard Business School.
