Axis Communications has unveiled the world’s inaugural explosion-proof thermometric camera, tailor-made for Zone and Division 2 hazardous environments. This innovative camera facilitates remote temperature monitoring, with the added capability of detecting temperatures within Zone and Division 1 hazardous zones. Crafted and certified to adhere to international explosion-proof standards, this release builds upon Axis’ prior launch of the first-ever explosion-proof camera designed for Zone and Division 2 hazardous sites in 2023.
The AXIS Q1961-XTE, this groundbreaking thermal camera, extends temperature monitoring accessibility to Zone 2/21 and Class I/II/III Division 2 hazardous areas, a feat previously limited due to the high costs associated with Zone/Division 1-certified thermometric cameras. Notably, the camera’s remote temperature monitoring and automated alert system bolster operational efficiency by preemptively signaling overheating equipment, outperforming handheld devices reliant on manual spot-checks.
Compared to conventional thermometer sensors, this new Axis thermometric camera provides comprehensive temperature readings across expansive areas, including rotating machinery, while filtering out false alarms. Moreover, its metadata stream offers historical temperature data for trend analysis, facilitating proactive maintenance to avert potential downtime.
The AXIS Q1961-XTE boasts a temperature monitoring range from -40 °C to 350 °C (-40 °F to 660 °F), with configurable detection areas and automatic alerts. Equipped with Axis Edge Vault for data protection and secure operations, this camera incorporates electrical safety measures and fire-retardant materials.
