Krishna Rao Appointed as New CFO of Google and Amazon-Backed Anthropic

Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic has appointed Krishna Rao as its first Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Anthropic, known for its generative AI models like Claude, announced Rao’s hiring in a blog post, highlighting his role in shaping the company’s financial strategy and operations. Rao brings extensive experience from previous roles at Fanatics Commerce, Cedar, and Airbnb, where he raised $10 billion in equity and debt capital.

Anthropic, which has secured significant funding from Google, Amazon, and various venture capital firms, aims to compete with OpenAI’s GPT series in the generative AI space. Additionally, the company has appointed Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger and is targeting $850 million in annualized revenue by 2024.
