Illumio and Netskope Announce Zero Trust Partnership to Enhance Cyber Resilience

Zero Trust Segmentation and Network Access Deliver Robust Protection for Hybrid IT Environments

Bangalore, India – May 24, 2024: Illumio, a leader in Zero Trust Segmentation (ZTS), and Netskope, a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) pioneer, have formed a Zero Trust partnership to bolster cyber resilience against breaches. This collaboration merges Illumio’s ZTS with Netskope’s Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) through the Netskope Cloud Exchange (CE) platform, enabling the creation of Zero Trust policies that secure access both at the organization’s perimeter and within its hybrid, multi-cloud infrastructure. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recommends three primary enforcement points in its Zero Trust Architecture: identity, network access, and workload segmentation. This partnership ensures consistent Zero Trust security at the network’s edge and within internal systems.

Key benefits of the partnership include:

– Comprehensive visibility across hybrid environments: Combining Illumio’s application-to-application and risk-based visibility with Netskope’s user-to-application visibility provides organizations with a real-time, end-to-end view of traffic, enhancing risk understanding.

– Enhanced user protection from non-compliant workloads: The integrated visibility allows security teams to enforce policies blocking access between users and compromised or segmented workloads, boosting overall organizational resilience.

– Dynamic ZTNA policies: Netskope’s security policies automatically update based on Illumio’s metadata, eliminating the need for manual rule adjustments as workload attributes change, ensuring continuous protection and scalability of Zero Trust architecture.

With ransomware incidents increasing and the cost of breaches rising to $4.45 million according to IBM, organizations are increasingly adopting Zero Trust solutions. Gartner notes strong adoption of ZTNA among large and mid-sized organizations and predicts that by 2026, 60% of enterprises working toward Zero Trust architecture will utilize multiple forms of microsegmentation, up from less than 5% in 2023.

David Willis, Vice-President of Technology Alliances at Netskope, stated, “Our partnership with Illumio ensures that the Netskope One platform gains essential context about private workload posture, reinforcing security for accessing private applications and workloads.”

Mario Espinoza, Chief Product Officer at Illumio, added, “Our integration with Netskope allows for shared context and policy updates, preventing remote users from accessing compromised workloads and protecting internal workloads from breaches. This collaboration simplifies the implementation of Zero Trust across hybrid environments, enhancing organizational resilience.”
