Persistent Systems Chooses Zscaler for Technology Modernization and Renewable Energy Projects

Global Leader in Digital Engineering and Enterprise Modernization Implements Zscaler Zero Trust ExchangeTM Platform to Drive Digital Transformation, Growth, and Sustainability Efforts

Zscaler, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZS), a leader in cloud security, announced that Persistent Systems, a global provider of digital engineering and enterprise modernization services, has adopted the Zscaler Zero Trust ExchangeTM cloud security platform. This partnership aims to advance Persistent’s zero trust initiatives while expanding business operations and achieving environmental sustainability goals.

As one of the fastest-growing IT services brands, Persistent was seeking a partner with reliable technology to support its digital transformation, and one that shared its corporate values on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues.

Debashis Singh, Chief Information Officer at Persistent, stated, “Our initial focus was to support our global anywhere computing model and implement a zero trust architecture, which yielded significant benefits. Ultimately, we wanted to enhance our cybersecurity infrastructure while minimizing costs, complexity, and environmental impact. Evolving our strategic partnership with Zscaler was the natural next step in our security and cloud transformation journey.”

To modernize its environment and maximize M&A agility, Persistent deployed the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform. This AI-driven cloud security platform eliminates the need for traditional firewall-based security appliances, providing secure access to applications and data regardless of user location or device. This modern security architecture reduces the attack surface and lateral movement, ensuring users are authenticated and authorized before accessing resources. Zscaler’s cloud-native architecture allows Persistent to scale its security infrastructure seamlessly, avoiding the complexities and expenses of legacy security solutions.

In the initial phase, Persistent implemented Zscaler for Users. Zscaler Internet AccessTM (ZIATM) provides secure web gateway access for its 22,800 users across 21 countries, while Zscaler Private AccessTM (ZPATM) replaced traditional VPNs, offering secure direct-to-cloud access to private applications from any device and location. Zscaler Data Loss PreventionTM (Zscaler DLPTM) enhances data security with advanced features like inline TLS/SSL traffic inspection and data discovery. Zscaler Digital Experience ensures swift issue detection and remediation, while Zscaler DeceptionTM stops high-priority attacks by luring adversaries away from critical resources.

Persistent quickly realized significant gains, with the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange platform reducing business risk and increasing user productivity within three months. Despite a 35% increase in traffic to 1,000 terabytes, Persistent was protected from 1.6 million security threats, including 369,305 hidden in encrypted traffic.

Mike Rich, Chief Revenue Officer and President of Global Sales at Zscaler, commented, “Balancing innovation and growth with cybersecurity and sustainability goals is a significant challenge for organizations worldwide. A strategic partner that helps navigate these challenges is key to digital transformation. Zscaler is thrilled to support Persistent in minimizing environmental impact and maximizing innovation, particularly as we move towards a future of zero trust built on generative AI.”
