National, 24 June 2024: The Atal Community Innovation Centre at BML Munjal University (ACIC-BMU) announced that two of its incubated start-ups have been featured in the prestigious SDG Coffee Table Book by Atal Innovation Mission (AIM). This publication highlights innovations that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing ACIC-BMU’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable development. This recognition underscores BMU’s efforts in creating an ecosystem that encourages start-ups to address real-world challenges while aligning with the UN SDGs.
The featured start-ups are:
1. Glovatrix: This start-up has developed Fifth Sense, a wearable device that facilitates communication for deaf and speech-impaired individuals. It supports seamless two-way communication, provides background sound notifications, supports multiple output languages, and features an ergonomic design. Glovatrix has been supported by ACIC-BMU under the HDFC Bank Startup Parivartan program.
2. Vayuguard Climate Tech: Recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Vayuguard Climate Tech is innovating in the field of air pollution and climate change. The start-up has created a hybrid solution called ‘Unlocking the Future of Clean Air with Electric-Magnetic Technology,’ which has been developed and patented. Vayuguard Climate Tech has been supported by ACIC-BMU under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme.
Dr. Davinder Singh, CEO of ACIC at BML Munjal University, expressed his pride, stating, “We are extremely proud of our incubated start-ups being featured in the SDG Coffee Table Book. Additionally, Vindhya Mehrotra, Co-founder of Ferry Rides, has been featured in another coffee table book on 75 Women Entrepreneurs supported by Atal Incubation Centres (AICs) and ACICs of AIM, NITI Aayog. Dr. Singh hopes that BMU’s recognition will inspire others to support both entrepreneurship and sustainable development. He emphasized that the success of these start-ups strengthens their resolve to nurture innovative ideas that can create a lasting impact on society and the environment.
The SDG Coffee Table Book by Atal Innovation Mission, titled ‘Innovations for You,’ compiles 60 stories of entrepreneurs from across India who have driven positive social change through sustainable innovations focused on renewable materials, green energy, education, and the empowerment of underrepresented communities. The SDGs serve as a global roadmap for achieving peace and prosperity by 2030. India is leading this movement by fostering collaboration among stakeholders to drive inclusive growth through SDG-focused innovation. Startup20 has urged G20 leaders to scale start-ups addressing SDGs and support underrepresented groups. Atal Innovation Mission has supported over 400 start-ups dedicated to the SDGs.
