Cummins Group in India (“Cummins India”), a prominent provider of power solutions technology, has inaugurated its inaugural IT Global Competency Center (GCC) at its India Office Campus in Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra. The center, unveiled by Earl Newsome, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Cummins Inc., along with Annapurna Vishwanathan, Chief Information Officer of Cummins India, and senior officials, marks a strategic move in the company’s IT transformational strategy.
This GCC aims to drive innovation and operational efficiencies across Cummins’ global operations, accelerating the time-to-market for its products and services. It will harness India’s abundant talent pool in software engineering and emerging digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
Earl Newsome expressed enthusiasm about the center’s potential to enhance business experiences globally, leveraging Pune’s robust software landscape and engineering infrastructure to attract top-tier talent. He emphasized Cummins’ longstanding commitment to India and its role in powering both company growth and national progress.
Annapurna Vishwanathan highlighted the strategic importance of the GCC amidst rapid technological advancements, positioning it to drive business growth and innovation. The center also aims to strengthen gender diversity, with 55% women employees, and will focus on further enhancing diversity across all tech roles.
In addition to fostering innovation, the GCC will offer internship programs and employment opportunities for veterans, individuals with special needs, and women returning from maternity leave.
