Axis Communications, a leader in network video technology, has introduced its inaugural explosion-protected network horn speaker, certified for Zone and Division 1 hazardous locations. The new AXIS XC1311 model enhances safety, operational efficiency, and security in these areas by integrating automatic audio alerts with network cameras.
AXIS XC1311 Explosion-Protected Network Horn Speaker
The AXIS XC1311, certified for hazardous environments including Class I Division 1 Groups A, B, C, D and Zone 1 IIC, Zone 21 IIIC, is designed for live, scheduled, and event-triggered voice messaging. This speaker improves health and safety, operational efficiency, and security by enabling automatic alerts through network camera integration.
The speaker boosts the effectiveness of audio warnings in hazardous settings by working with analytics-equipped network cameras for remote monitoring and automated alerts. For instance, it can issue warnings about smoke detection and temperature changes, serving as early indicators of fire risk. It can also broadcast prerecorded safety reminders, such as the need for personal protective equipment, and alert personnel or intruders about unauthorized access.
The AXIS XC1311 delivers clear, high-volume audio even in noisy environments, thanks to its digital signal processing and built-in 7W Class D amplifier, producing a sound pressure level of over 110 dB at 1 meter.
It comes with AXIS Audio Manager Edge software, which simplifies audio management, message scheduling, and content prioritization. The software supports up to 200 speakers divided into 20 zones and allows remote management and system health monitoring.
Featuring a single cable for power and connectivity, the speaker is easier and quicker to install compared to analog systems, reducing total ownership costs. The digital design eliminates the need for redundant systems and additional hardware or software, making it a cost-effective, all-in-one solution.
The speaker also includes Axis Edge Vault for enhanced cybersecurity and is constructed with an aluminum chamber to protect the electronics and power connections. Like Axis’s explosion-protected cameras, it meets stringent explosion-protected standards, ensuring full traceability of critical components for 10 years.
