Freshworks Appoints Murali Swaminathan as Chief Technology Officer

Freshworks Inc. (NASDAQ: FRSH) has announced the appointment of Murali Swaminathan as its new Chief Technology Officer. In his role, Swaminathan will oversee Freshworks’ technology strategy and guide the company’s global engineering and architecture teams. His appointment aligns with Freshworks’ commitment to enhance its employee and customer experience solutions through strategic investment in talent and resources. Swaminathan will join the executive management team and report directly to CEO and President Dennis Woodside.

Bringing over 30 years of experience in software engineering and management, Swaminathan has a notable track record of developing scalable and secure products. He joins Freshworks from ServiceNow, where he served as Vice President of Engineering, managing the company’s IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management products designed for large enterprises.

Dennis Woodside, CEO and President of Freshworks, expressed enthusiasm about Swaminathan’s addition to the team. “Murali’s extensive experience and alignment with our goals of delivering impactful AI-driven products make him a valuable asset. His leadership in enhancing employee experiences will be crucial as we aim to be the preferred platform for mid-market and enterprise clients competing on a global scale.”

During his tenure at ServiceNow, Swaminathan played a key role in developing the company’s modern application architecture, which has significantly contributed to its revenue and global customer base. Prior to ServiceNow, he was Vice President of Engineering at Recommind (now OpenText) and held several critical roles at CA Technologies (now part of Broadcom Inc.), where he advanced enterprise software solutions. Swaminathan holds a master’s degree in Software Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in electronics and instrumentation from Annamalai University in India.

Commenting on his new role, Swaminathan said, “Joining Freshworks at this exciting time as we aim to become a multi-billion dollar software company is an incredible opportunity. I look forward to collaborating with our talented global teams to drive innovation and deliver outstanding products that address our customers’ evolving needs.”
