On September 10, 2024, Yotta Data Services announced a significant partnership with the Government of Telangana to create a cutting-edge AI Supercomputer within a custom-designed, high-density liquid-cooled Data Center in Hyderabad’s AI City. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Sh. Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary for IT, Electronics & Communications, Telangana, and Sh. Sunil Gupta, Co-founder, MD, and CEO of Yotta Data Services Pvt Ltd, with Chief Minister Sh. Revanth Reddy and Minister Sh. Duddilla Sridhar Babu present at the Telangana Global AI Summit.
The first phase, featuring 4,000 GPUs, along with Yotta H1, will become operational in the next two years. The complete AI Supercomputer, with 25,000 GPUs and a 50 MW Data Center, is expected to revolutionize Hyderabad’s AI sector, significantly developing the 200-acre AI City and establishing it as a global AI innovation hub. This development aims to enhance Telangana’s and India’s position in the global AI landscape.
The AI Cloud Data Center will feature a high-performance GPU infrastructure with ~4,000 NVIDIA H100/H200 GPUs initially, with plans to scale to over 25,000 GPUs. It will support high-speed InfiniBand or equivalent networking.
The center will offer a range of AI services through a self-service portal, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS), catering to diverse needs of startups, educational institutions, research labs, enterprises, and government entities.
Chief Minister Sh. Revanth Reddy remarked that the new AI Supercomputer and Data Center would propel Telangana to new technological heights, fostering significant growth and reinforcing Hyderabad’s role as a leading AI destination. Minister Sh. Duddilla Sridhar Babu highlighted the partnership’s importance in making Hyderabad a global AI leader and enhancing Telangana’s technological capabilities.
Sh. Jayesh Ranjan emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging AI for statewide growth and opportunity creation, aligning with Yotta’s vision of making Hyderabad the AI capital of India.
Yotta’s CEO, Sunil Gupta, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the initiative’s potential to accelerate AI development in India and position the country as a global AI hub. Yotta will also introduce a comprehensive software orchestration layer and a marketplace for seamless GPU cluster access, offering flexible AI resources and services on-demand.
The data center will use predominantly green energy and adopt advanced sustainable technologies, including power-efficient chips and innovative cooling systems, aiming for an IGBC Platinum rating to affirm its commitment to eco-friendly practices.
