Broadcom Introduces VeloRAIN Architecture and New Edge Appliances to Enhance AI Networking

Broadcom Inc. announced key developments in its VeloCloud product line, unveiling the VeloRAIN architecture, new VeloCloud Edge appliances, and the Titan partner program aimed at supporting managed service providers (MSPs). These advancements are designed to meet the increasing demands of AI and other complex workloads in distributed environments.

The launch includes:
  • VeloRAIN Architecture: This AI/ML-enabled framework is crafted to enhance the performance and security of AI workloads, particularly in distributed settings. VeloRAIN introduces new capabilities to detect and prioritize AI application traffic, offering enhanced quality of service (QoS) across enterprise networks.
  • New Edge Appliances: Broadcom released the VeloCloud Edge 4100 and 5100, AI-ready edge solutions capable of scaling up to 100Gbps, targeting large enterprises and complex operational environments.
  • Titan Partner Program: Aimed at supporting VeloCloud Managed Service Providers, the Titan program offers resources for MSPs to help enterprises adopt AI-driven technologies more seamlessly.
The announcement is accompanied by Broadcom’s “State of the Edge” report, which highlights trends in enterprise edge workload adoption and the implications for networking infrastructure.
Enhancements in AI Networking with VeloRAIN
VeloRAIN aims to improve network efficiency, security, and QoS for AI-driven workloads through several innovations:
  1. AI Application Detection and Prioritization: Leveraging AI and machine learning, VeloRAIN will be able to identify previously encrypted and unparsable traffic, enabling better prioritization and QoS for edge AI applications.
  2. Network Optimization over Wireless Links: With advanced channel estimation, VeloRAIN helps provide fiber-like performance even over wireless connections like 5G and satellite, allowing enterprises to manage network variability more effectively.
  3. Dynamic Policy Framework: A policy-based approach enables automatic prioritization of applications based on business needs, reducing manual intervention. The framework includes Dynamic Application-Based Slicing (DABS) for tailored QoS across networks and user profile-based traffic management for enhanced performance.
High-Performance VeloCloud Edge Appliances
Broadcom’s new VeloCloud Edge 4100 and 5100 appliances are designed for high-demand environments, providing substantial improvements over previous models. The Edge 4100 offers up to 30 Gbps throughput with support for up to 12,000 tunnels, while the Edge 5100 introduces 100 Gbps throughput with support for up to 20,000 tunnels, enhancing scalability for large-scale deployments in data centers and branch locations.
These updates reflect Broadcom’s ongoing focus on addressing enterprise needs in a landscape increasingly shaped by AI applications and distributed infrastructure.
