The Client
Customer de-risked business portfolio encompasses manufacturing and marketing of Sponge Iron, Steel and Ferro Alloys. They are also engaged in mining of minerals like Coal & Iron Ore, besides generation of power for captive consumption. The company is aggressively expanding and is constantly adding value to the area of operations by leveraging its competitive edge of having backward and forward integration of operations. They are using MS Navision.
Background:
In the midst of rapid growth and a corporate initiative to become more environmentally responsible from an IT perspective, Customer needed to upgrade its IT ERP System and decided to Implement SAP. Now the challenge was to finalize the best Compute platform and an energy efficient data center. A key part of this effort was installing an uninterruptible power (UPS) system that would support efforts to reduce data center energy consumption and provide a clear path for expansion as IBM Power Server and Power virtualization were introduced.
IT Challenges
Due to the rapid growth of business the existing IT Setup became a hurdle and it was decided to migrate to SAP. The Customer had finalized the Application but not the hardware and the Detacenter Infrastructure Customer was receiving different solutions from SIs. The Challenge was limited Space and the server count was more than 30. After evaluating many solutions, they found the optimum solution was given by Computers Network & Telecom India Pvt Ltd. with IBM Power Servers and an energy efficient Datacenter.
The solution
CNT Solution Team (CNTST) formed a team of experts to analyze the customer need and the best possible solution which would be most reliable with minimum capital investment as well as minimum operating cost and foot print. CNTST proposed a solution on IBM Power Series Server with Power VM Virtualization with High Availability. CNT Datacenter Team built a very efficient design of Datacenter room which could accommodate the current compute node as well as able to handle future growth of 200%. This is a centerline Datacenter and able to serve about 2000 users across globe through Secure SSL VPN.
